BACOLOD City – As of yesterday, 32,670 Negrenses were affected by the southwest monsoon, or habagat, enhanced by Super Typhoon “Egay”, according to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
Negros Occidental PSWDO officer Chiqui Gonzales emphasized the importance of pre-emptive evacuations and continuous monitoring.
She also said they continue repacking relief goods to augment the 1,600 family food packs prepositioned for affected local government units (LGUs).
Gonzales clarified that priority will be given to affected residents staying in evacuation centers. However, they will not neglect families who choose to remain in their homes.
The affected LGUs included the towns of Pontevedra, San Enrique, Hinoba-an, Valladolid, La Castellana, Don Salvador Benedicto, Pulupandan and Cauayan, as well as the cities of Bago, Sipalay, Silay, Cadiz and Sagay. (Watchmen Daily Journal)
