Hamtic records 20 new coronavirus infections

HAMTIC, Antique – This town recorded 20 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Aug. 5.

The cases were in barangays Guintas (four), Apdo (one), Puao (one), Mapatag (one), Poblacion 1 (one), Poblacion 4 (eight), Caridad (four).

Contact tracing was launched, according to Mayor Julius Pacificador “to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

As of Aug. 5, the town had 57 active cases and 18 deaths. But it also had 182 recovered cases.

The 57 active cases were in barangays Asluman (four), Guintas (six), Buhang (one), Apdo (one), Funda (seven), Puao (one), Gov. Evelio B. Javier (two), Piape 1 (one), Piape 3 (one), Malandog (two), Mapatag (one), Poblacion 1 (one), Poblacion 3 (three), Poblacion 4 (nine), Poblacion 5 (two), Villavert-Jimenez (one), General Fullon ( one), Caridad (five), Caromangay (one), Calala (one), and Bia-an (one).

Forty-three of the active cases are on home quarantine, six in the temporary treatment monitoring facility and seven hospitalized.

“I am appealing to all Hamticanons. Please stay at home, avoid nonessential travel and always observe proper public health standards,” said Mayor Pacificador.

He also urged them to have themselves vaccinated.

As of July 31, 2,111 Hamticanons became fully vaccinated, said Pacificador. They included healthcare workers, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities./PN
