AS a celebrity ambassador for PAWS Philippines for almost 13 years now, Heart Evangelista was happy to launch their newest campaign “A Heart for Aspins” which also features her own rescued dog Panda which the actress brought with her when she did interviews with the press.
“This is Princess Panda. Pan-pan was actually napulot siya ng daddy ko with other puppies in Batangas. Isa siya sa nakuha ng daddy ko,” she shared.
Heart said she initially just planned to temporarily take care of Panda until he was old enough to be adopted. “You know not everybody will adopt so in my own way I also foster dogs. They stay in my house until I find them a home. So Pan-pan was one of them and then nakuha na siya pero nagkaroon ako ng feeling na hindi ko pala kayang ibigay so iniyakan ko pa si Chiz (Escudero, her husband) kasi ang dami na naming aso sa bahay. So binalik ng kumuha sa kanya si Pan-pan and then nabalik siya sa akin,” she recalled.
Growing up with almost 20 dogs in the house, Heart said that her aspin Panda can be just as demanding as their pedigreed dogs. “Si Panda bawal siya madumihan. At saka maarte yan noh. So ganun din dapat ang mga aspins. There’s really no difference. In fact a lot of people they say wala daw silang pagmamahal sa buhay, kulang daw sila sa love. In fact there’s love that’s free. Kukunin mo lang sila di ba? They’re willing to love you unconditionally and that’s what a dog is all about. So aspin, German Shepherd, Maltese, ano pa ba yung ka-sosyalan, it’s all the same,” she explained.
During the event, Heart even admitted that Panda was wearing designer scarves by Hermes given by her friends and also shared her travel plans for him in the near future. “I’m working on Panda’s papers, pupunta siya ng Paris. O di ba aspin in Paris. It’s really not about the breed. Pupunta siya sa Eiffel tower. It’s really hard to get the papers but hopefully one day, kahit matanda na siya pupunta talaga siya doon para ma-experience niya. Kasi there he can walk in the store, he can walk to the Ritz hotel, to Hermes and they allow their dogs imagine niyo,” she said. (Push)
