BACOLOD City – A heated argument during a drinking spree led to the hacking of a 23-year-old laborer in Barangay Lalagsan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.
Kenny Becino, a resident of the same village, was wounded on the back of his head.
Barangay tanods (watchmen) arrested his attacker, 26-year-old Arvie Yudo, also of Lalagsan, and turned him over to the police.
Becino, Yudo and Marco Francisco were bringe-drinking in the suspect’s house when Becino lighted a firecracker called bilong-bilong and threw it at Francisco, prompting the latter to run to the kitchen to avoid the explosion, investigation showed.
Yudo confronted Becino, and a heated argument ensued. Becino challenged Yudo to a fistfight, but the latter grabbed his 24-inch long bolo and charged at the former.
Becino was taken to the rural health unit in La Castellana but referred to the La Carlota City Hospital. He was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here./PN
