ILOILO City – A heavy equipment operator was shot dead in Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz district. The suspect was the man he hit with a stone.
Gener Panes, 21, died of multiple gunshot wounds at the West Visayas State University Medical Center.
Forty-year-old Jake Lariosa, the suspect, was arrested hours after the shooting. He was detained at the La Paz police station.
Panes was shot while playing billiards around 7:20 p.m. on Sunday night.
Lariosa and Panes figured in a commotion on Saturday morning, according to Senior Police Officer 1 Alain Silda of La Paz.
At the police station, Lariosa claimed Panes attacked him with a stone.
Policemen recovered from crime scene three empty bullet shells of a .45 pistol.
Lariosa did not have the pistol when arrested./PN
