BACOLOD City – Today is the last day of filing the Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) of all barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election candidates.
City Election Officer Mavil Sia said they are expecting a heavy influx of SOCE filers today, citing the “Filipino time” attitude of Bacolodnons.
As of June 12, about 40 percent of the 2,985 May 14 election candidates in Bacolod have filed their SOCEs.
The candidates – win or lose – must file their SOCEs, Commission on Elections said.
According to Sia, they have already sent text messages to remind the remaining 60 percent of the candidates to pass their SOCEs.
Winning candidates who fail to submit their SOCEs could not assume office come June 30, according to the Department of Interior and Local Government.
Meanwhile, fines and/or disqualification to run for public office await losing candidates who fail to file the document.
Sia added that late SOCE filers will have to submit their documents directly to Comelec’s Committee on Finance in Metro Manila./PN
