MALAY, Aklan – Heavy rains in northern Aklan triggered a landslide along the edge of a road in Barangay Caticlan here on Saturday afternoon.
A construction worker was killed while three others were rescued.
Modesto Apellido, 44, of Bingawan, Iloilo was buried under loose soil from a hill above the road in Sitio Putol, about a kilometer from the airport in Barangay Caticlan.
The three other workers were Jay Daryl Castillo, Nino Jay Castillo and Darius Castillo, all residents of Barangay Caticlan. They received treatment at the Malay Municipal Hospital in Barangay Motag.
Rescuers from the Bureau of Fire Protection-Malay and Malay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office assisted in the search and rescue operations./PN
