THE Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards starrer “Hello, Love, Again” reached another milestone as it becomes the first Filipino movie to gross over a billion pesos at the box office worldwide.
It also now holds the title of being the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, amassing P1.06 billion in worldwide sales as of Saturday, Nov. 24.
Star Cinema and GMA Pictures announced the milestone.
“Maraming salamat to all of you who gave your love and support for our film. We truly have found our home in you and we celebrate this success with you,” the production companies said.
“‘Hello, Love, Again’ is now the highest grossing Filipino film of all time in just 10 DAYS!” it stated.
“Hello, Love, Again,” the sequel to the blockbuster hit “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” surpassed the Metro Manila Film Fest 2023 film “Rewind” which recorded a worldwide gross of P924 million.
Prior to “Rewind,” “Hello, Love, Goodbye” held the title with P880 million in global gross.
Richards expressed his gratitude for the support for their film while treating fans to more behind-the-scenes moments from their filming.
“Thank you for making this happen. We are truly grateful beyond words,” he wrote on his Instagram page. “Maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat.”
“To GOD be the glory,” he added.
“Hello, Love, Again,” which premiered last Nov. 13, recorded the highest opening gross for a local film at P85 million. It also earned over $2 million in first-day gross in North American cinemas.
The Cathy Garcia-Sampana-helmed movie earlier closed the 2024 Asian World Film Festival in Caulifornia. The film festival also recognized Bernardo as its Snow Leopard Rising Star. (Anne Pasajol © Philippiawardeene Daily Inquirer)
