ILOILO – A 50-year-old herbal product vendor was robbed by two unidentified motorcycle-riding robbers in Barangay Guno, Sta. Barbara.
The victim identified as Jimmy Arriesgado, a resident of Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City, was allegedly targeted by the suspects after his successful sales transaction.
According to Police Lieutenant Señeres of the Sta. Barbara police station, the suspects might have observed Arriesgado handling his earnings before following him on Tuesday night, February 11.
Reports indicate that at around 6:30 p.m., Arriesgado stopped near the roadside to relieve himself when the suspects approached him. The back rider inquired about directions to Barangay Balibagan before suddenly pulling a knife and threatening the vendor.
Meanwhile, the driver pointed a firearm at Arriesgado’s head and demanded money, reportedly saying, “We only need cash, sir.”
The suspects carted away the victim’s P20,000 and fled.
Sta. Barbara police launched a hot pursuit operation against the suspects and coordinated with the Pavia police to determine if the same suspects were involved in a previous holdup incident in Barangay Pandac, Pavia./PN
