BUGASONG, Antique – Slain Police Staff Sergeant Elvin Agting of the municipal police station here will be honored with a posthumous Medalya ng Kadakilaan (Heroism Medal), according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Late afternoon of Oct. 15, Agting was shot by a mentally-challenged man when he responded to a shooting in Barangay Cubay.
The PRO-6 extends its “deepest gratitude” for Agting’s “courage, selflessness, commitment, and dedication to service, flag and country,” according to PRO-6 director Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda in a statement.
“His heroism is an inspiration and will not be forgotten,” he added.
On Oct. 18, PRO-6 extended financial assistance to the family of Agting in Barangay Iluares here.
Agting served with full commitment in protecting the people of Bugasong, said Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 public information officer.
Miranda was represented by Colonel Richard Baluis, chief, Regional Comptrollership Division, during the turnover of financial support to the Agting family.
Agting’s son Elgin Fred received the monetary assistance.
“The untimely demise of Police Staff Sergeant Agting is a loss that has saddened the entire PRO-6,” said Miranda.
Also present during the turned over were Police Major Aladine Revocal, representing the RFSO6, Police Major Benjo Clarete of the Antique Police Provincial Office, and Police Lieutenant Fritz Padroncillo, Bugasong police chief./PN
