ILOILO City – Shalene Palmares-Hidalgo, a former Sangguniang Panlalawigan member, wants to return to the Provincial Board.
After three years of living outside of politics, Hidalgo is running for Board member representing the 4th District in the May 13, 2019 midterm elections.
She substituted Jesus Palomo-Paclibar, who withdrew his candidacy last Wednesday. Hidalgo filed her certificate of candidacy on the same day. Both were under the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan party.
People encouraging her to return to public service while she was on vacation in the United States prompted her to seek the elective post anew, said Hidalgo.
“Naglibot man ako kag nagpamangkot kon bala kinahanglan nila ang isa ka babaye nga halin sa Passi City nga magserbisyo sa 4th District. Te ila sabat OK man kag gusto nila,” said Hidalgo.
Her third and last term as Board member ended in 2016.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. and son 3rd District’s Rep. Arthur Defensor Jr., who is seeking to replace his father, are supporting her bid, said Hidalgo.
Another PDP-Laban candidate for 4th District Board member is Audy Detablan.
They will run against Nacionalista Party’s candidates Rolly Distura, the former mayor of Dumangas town, and re-electionist Domingo Oso Jr./PN
