‘High-value’ Antique drug suspect nabbed

ILOILO City – A drug suspect from Antique classified by the police as “high value” was arrested with his girlfriend on MH Del Pilar Street, Molo district here.

The 37-year-old Redante Dingcong was a resident of Barangay Madrangca, San Jose, Antique while the 31-year-old Ma. Theresa Bacay was from Barangay Calapdan, Estancia, Iloilo.

Both were taken to the Molo police station around 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday after selling a gram of suspected shabu worth P4,500 to an undercover police officer.

Two and a half grams more of suspected shabu valued at P87,000 were seized from them.

According to Senior Inspector Marc Dado, chief of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU), Dingcong’s Antique-based group merged with that of drug suspect Bonie Gregori, nephew of slain Iloilo City drug lord Richard Prevendido.

The group’s area of coverage included Antique, Aklan and Iloilo, Dado added.

The RDEU chief also said Dingcong was released from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology prison facility in San Jose, Antique only this last week of February. He was detained there for a drug case.

“Actually, Dingcong did not stop dealing with illegal drugs despite his detention,” said Dado.

It was while in detention when Dingcong met Gregori, he added.

Gregori remains detained in San Jose. He was arrested in an anti-drug operation of the police on Nov. 4, 2016 in Barangay Camandagan, Tobias Fornier, Antique.

Dingcong faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
