‘High-value’ drug suspect falls

ILOILO City – Four plastic packs of suspected shabu were seized in an antidrug operation in Barangay Bagongbong, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.

Ernel Paredes was arrested, a spot report from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 stated.

PDEA-6 identified Paredes as a “high-value target” in the antidrug campaign in Barotac Nuevo and a suspected member of the Bolivar drug group.

Aside from the suspected shabu, also seized from Paredes were drug paraphernalia, a .45 pistol, two magazines, and 11 pieces of ammunition, stated the spot report.

PDEA-6 and the police staged the operation at around 11:35 p.m. on May 3.

Paredes faces charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, specifically sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) and 12 (possession of paraphernalia for dangerous drugs), the spot report stated.

The suspect could also face a charge for violation of the Commission on Elections firearms ban./PN
