Higher allowance for Bacolod BHWs

BACOLOD City – There will be an increase in the allowance of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in this city. The city council here recently amended the Section 1 of the City Ordinance No. 913, series of 2019, increasing BHWs’ allowance from P4,500 to P5,500.

The BHWs deserve such increase, according to Councilor Cindy Rojas, chairperson of the Committee on Health, also the author of the ordinance.

“The BHWs are the frontliners who provide healthcare services and programs not only of the city but also of the barangays in order to make sure that the population is healthy,” she said.

The BHW’s current allowance is not sufficient to cover their daily expenses, the city council agreed.

The amendment of the ordinance was approved in the city council on Wednesday for the third and final reading./PN
