Hilario slay case: Ex-mayor, 2 other suspects surrender

BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – The former mayor of Isabela, Negros Occidental and two others charged in connection with the death of Moises Padilla town councilor Jolomar Hilario surrendered yesterday.

Former mayor Joselito Malabor, Armando Cordero and Amy Locsin turned themselves in to Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer at the provincial capitol.

The three were accompanied by their legal counsel, Atty. Jomax Ortiz.

According to Ortiz, the accusations against his three clients were malicious, baseless and likely “politically motivated.”

Today, Malabor, Cordero and Locsin would be transported to Guihulngan City in Negros Occidental to attend the hearing for their bail.

In 2019, 50 armed individuals identifying themselves as New People’s Army (NPA) rebels barged into the house of Hilario, dragged him out and shot him multiple times.

The men also allegedly threatened Hilario’s wife and children but left them unharmed.

In February of 2021, the La Carlota City Regional Trial Court (Branch 63) released a warrant of arrest against 14 people in connection with the Hilario slay case./PN
