BACOLOD City – He was trying to pacify a drunken man creating trouble in a birthday party in Barangay Mahalang, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental when he was shot, a police report showed.
The 37-year-old resident Mario Eniong sustained a gunshot wound on the face, the report further stated.
Eniong was rushed to a hospital in Himamaylan City where the attending physician pronounced him “dead on arrival.”
The suspect was identified as Ruben Cano, also a resident of the village.
According to the police, Eniong and his wife were attending Juanita Hilacio’s birthday party around 12:10 a.m. on Monday.
Cano arrived and started making trouble by firing his gun, added the police.
Hilacio and Cano then had a confrontation. When Eniong tried to pacify Cano, the latter fired at him.
Officers from the Himamaylan police station were still looking for Cano, who fled after the incident./PN
