BACOLOD City – Himamaylan City’s Mayor Raymund Tongson is eyeing a major renovation of their pavilion at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan once the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2023 wraps up on Sunday, April 23.
Tongson said they originally wanted to have their pavilion renovated back in 2019, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the allocated budget for the renovation was redirected to the city’s pandemic response.
“We stopped any plans to evade issues that we are prioritizing the pavilion at the Panaad Park instead of the pandemic,” he pointed out.
He said they already have a preliminary design, but he still needs to sit down with the architect to finalize it.
The city mayor said he wants the Himamaylan pavilion to become an extension of the city government’s office where they could host functions as well as accommodate the city’s participants whenever competitions are held in Bacolod City.
He also wants the pavilion to be used to shelter Himamaylan City employees who will be attending official functions and or transactions in Bacolod./PN
