BACOLOD City – A holdup suspect died after he was shot in a police operation in Barangay Estefania.
Senior Inspector Leo Gestopa, commander of Police Station 2, identified the suspect as Juniben Fulgo.
Fulgo’s companion the police identified as Jan-Jan Beatingo – another holdup suspect – managed to evade arrest. He was still at large as of this writing.
Fulgo and Beatingo were allegedly responsible for robbing two women along 10th Lacson Street in Barangay 7 around 8 p.m. on Monday.
The women were identified as April Rose Miranda and Nelsie Grace Gallaza – both 21 years old and residents of Barangay 7.
Miranda and Gallaza reported the crime to Police Station 2, which then launched a manhunt operation against the suspects.
The suspects – on board a motorcycle – were seen in Barangay Villamonte but the police officers cornered them in Barangay Estefania around 11 p.m. on the same day.
The suspects fired at the cops, which prompted the latter to fire back, hitting Fulgo on the back.
The bullet exited through Fulgo’s thigh, police said.
Beatingo fled. Fulgo, on the other hand, was rushed to a hospital.
The attending physician pronounced Fulgo dead around 3 a.m. on Tuesday./PN
