Holy Week in Iceland, Part 2

EVEN if I say the nastiest things about LBM-tae and his family now, and even if I campaign hardest against his election, do you think he will reject my services if he wins the presidency?

If I offer myself and my services to clean up his, and his rotten family’s, image for the future generations — in short, be his apologist — would he be able to resist?

Right now, I say unto you: I will survive a disaster of an LBM presidency.

I may even get a high paying job.

***

What will not survive is this: my faith in the Filipino people.

If the Filipinos prove that indeed they are stupid and politically immature with an LBM win in the May 2022 elections, what’s the point of my intelligent and ardent patriotism?

Why not just abandon the cause, join the dark forces, and make lives miserable for the stupids?

If the poor can be bought, and if the stupids can be fooled, I want the poor to be poorer, and the stupids to be f*cked hard in the ass.

And if I can have my way of giving out the punishment, oh, maybe I should be involved!

***

The Holy Week is the only time in the year that I allow myself to be angry.

I am generally a happy person.

My only pet peeve is Stupidity.

I can forgive mental illness, I can understand crimes of passion, but stupidity?

Stupidity is unforgivable as far as I’m concerned.

It’s like a refusal of God’s offering of love.

It’s a turning away from truth, intelligence, and Light.

***

While on a road trip in Iceland last week, I reflected on my great love for my country.

And I realized that I’m becoming an angry person when I see how stupid Filipinos are in times of elections.

I still blame the Marcos dictatorship for initiating and normalizing vote buying in the Philippines.

But my anger is directed more towards the stupid voters who remain stupid.

People who vote for popular names and faces, instead of leadership potentials and sincere service.

***

On this April Iceland trip, I saw the Northern Lights three times.

Plus the three times I saw it in Sweden in January, I am a very lucky guy.

That I’m able to travel during this pandemic, and not suffer from lack of income, I am among the lucky ones.

That I’m finally 53, and doing whatever I decide, saying whatever I want, and getting whatever I desire, I feel luckiest of all.

***

Sure, sure, this is still Holy Week.

But all my Lenten meditation came to climax last week.

I mean, that’s why I could write this column.

And I’d like to report that I am a very happy person.

All the smiles, and jump shot photos from the trip will show you that.

***

As for luck and contentment, let’s just say that despite the chaperoning of my aunt, I still managed to hook up with a German guy living in Reykjavik.

Sad to report that I didn’t get any Icelandic dude, but sex score is not zero.

And I’m good with that.

The only Icelandic meat I’ve eaten are of a fin whale (first time), some Icelandic lamb, and wild reindeer.

And the only Icelandic penises I’ve seen were those on display at the Icelandic Phallological Museum.

***

So, if I have to study the source of my anger (if at all), it will be my deep concern for the Philippines, and my waning faith in the Filipino people.

My anger is simple: it is directed towards stupidity.

And when stupidity is tied to the elections, it becomes a tragedy, a disaster.

***

How many more super typhoons, volcanic eruptions, COVID deaths do we need to see that God is sending us a message?

We have these calamities and natural disasters so that we could grow up politically, and choose better leaders.

Choose leaders who are God-fearing, not liars and thieves!

***

I do not have a personal stake in this election.

But whoever the Filipino people chooses as president may affect my next few years.

I may choose not to return to the Philippines.

Or I may choose to be the best Marcos apologist there can be.

I mean, with everything I know, and with my flair for narratives, I can turn the dictator’s family into saints.

***

And isn’t that what LBM-tae’s presidential bid all about — to clear his family’s name, and clean up their image via revisionism, massive misinformation, and faking of everything?

Well, I can play Fake, too.

But for now, let me just continue to stand for the Truth!/PN
