BACOLOD City – The Homesite bridge in Barangay Villamonte remains a one-way route, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) stressed.
BTAO head Luisito Acebuche made the clarification in light of reports that the route has reverted to two-way.
District Engineer Abraham Villareal on Friday said he will recommend to the city government to make the bridge two-way again but limit the vehicles that may use it.
Vehicles 10 tons and below may be allowed to pass, but those more than 10 tons will be rerouted, said the official from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bacolod City District Engineering Office.
Acebuche stressed the one-way scheme at the bridge remains.
But today Acebuche will meet with the locals and other people using the bridge to hear their sentiments. “We can decide after the meeting,” he said.
The BTAO carried out a rerouting scheme effective Feb. 1 in light of repairs at the Homesite bridge approach.
Only vehicles from the south were allowed to use the bridge. Those from the north were advised to turn right upon reaching C.L. Montelibano Road.
A recent heavy downpour while the DPWH was widening the bridge caused the soil at the approach to erode, but the agency’s workers already placed a brace around the area, said Villareal./PN
