Hoping for a happy ending

By ERWIN ‘AMBO’ DELILAN

JUST recently, the public was “entertained-slash-enlightened” anew by the ongoing Yanson family legal feud with the report re: Decision of the Court of Appeals’ 19th Division in Cebu City.

A document released to the media claimed that the appellate court, in its June 21, 2023 order, reportedly sustained the issuance of warrants of arrest issued by a local court in Bacolod City for a non-bailable charge of qualified theft against four Yanson siblings commonly referred to as Y4.

Y4’S SIDE

However, in a press statement issued by the Fortun Narvasa & Salazar Law Office, the Y4 clarified the reported Court of Appeals-Cebu’s decision.

Both Attorneys Philip Sigfred Fortun and Sheila Sison, acting as counsels for Y4, stressed that such report was prejudicial to their clients.

Too, they stressed that the reports were, “Not only highly inappropriate but also disrespectful to the court processes.”

Why?

They pointed out that “the matter and issues subject of the report are still the matter of litigation before the trial and appellate court.”

Thus, they billed such report as “fake news”, leading to “misimpression and disinformation” of the public, adding, “We deem it necessary to clarify the facts as they actually are.”

In sum, the Y4’s attorneys finally stressed: “It is thus misleading to report that the Court of Appeals-Cebu had ‘affirmed’ the arrest warrants against our clients.”

PUBLIC HOPEFUL

Well, both sides have the best legal arguments on the contested Court of Appeals-Cebu City’s June 21, 2023 Resolution.

However, the ordinary people are baffled, especially the Negrenses. But they are hopeful that the Yanson family legal saga will end with a happy ending for everybody. That all’s well that ends well.

Certainly, relatives, friends and acquaintances of the Yansons are praying that their spat will be settled soon with Divine intervention.

As the Bible in Psalm 133:1 says” “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity.”

Hence, everybody’s hoping for the best.

Let’s pray for ultimate peace./PN
