ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Around 20 kilos of meat have been stopped from entering this city’s public market around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 11.
The meat did not pass through the city’s slaughterhouse, thus, illegal, according to Bagong Lipunan Trade Center (formerly Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center) chief security officer Efren Diaz.
The hot meat was in the possession of Rafael Arnaldo of Roxas City.
Diaz said the meat was turned over to the slaughterhouse for proper disposition, while Arnaldo will be facing corresponding penalties.
Roxas City has cases of African Swine Fever (ASF). The city strengthened its measures to contain its spread.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas ordered the strict monitoring and inspection of pork, which should have the seal of the city’s slaughterhouse and a Meat Inspection Certificate.
