Hotel guest loses P1.9-M cash, jewelry to burglars

ILOILO – A total of P1.9 million worth of cash and jewelry were taken by burglars from a hotel-resort guest in Barangay Sablogon, Passi City.

Rafail Agcaoili, 62, and president of AESO International Building Corporation, was sound asleep at Pintados Resort and Restaurant on Tuesday night, April 18, during the break-in.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Palomo, chief of the Passi City Police Station, there were six persons of interest.

“Ang persons of interest naton gyapon are ang apat ka staff, then ang isa ka staff may bata ini nga duha ka lalaki nga nalakip man. Anum ‘ni sila tanan kagab-i ang ginpatawag naton kag gina-investigate kay wala gid kita sang lead didto sa crime scene kay wala sang CCTV (closed-circuit television camera). Wala man ka talupangod ang biktima kay mayo man ini ang iya tulog,” said Palomo.

Finger and footprints were taken from the persons of interest, he added.

Agcaoili had a victory party for opening a business located in the city’s Barangay Imbang Grande before the incident.

The victim woke up around 5:30 a.m. and noticed that his sling bag, which contained P400,000 in cash, a watch, a necklace, and other jewelry, was gone.

“Mahamuok ang katulugon sang biktima. Then sa pagbugtaw niya didto niya na lang nakita nga wala na ang cash niya nga P400,000, relo nga nagabalor P1.4 million, kulintas nga worth P60,000, bracelet nga worth P50,000, kag worth P6,000 nga ring,” added Palomo.

A total of P1,916,000 in cash and jewelry were carted.

The Passi City police believe that the suspect(s) passed through the window of the hotel room facing the highway.

“Subong ginapa-closely monitor ko sa area naton diri ang activities sang mga suspects naton dati nga nagapinangawat kay basi magbaligya or mag-gasto sila sang ila kinawatan kag makwaan man naton sang impormasyon,” said Palomo./PN
