BACOLOD City – The House of Representatives approved on Dec. 10 on third and final reading House Bill (HB) No. 3808 establishing a permanent office of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in this city.
Cong. Greg Gasataya said professionals in Negros Occidental who need to process their licenses should no longer go to Iloilo City for their PRC transactions.
He noticed that every time the PRC held satellite registrations at the Bacolod City Government Center, local professionals numbered in the hundreds, some queuing as early as dawn.
Gasataya said Negros Occidental 4th District representative Juliet Ferrer co-authored the bill citing that a PRC office is needed not only in Bacolod City but by the entire province.
“The PRC Office will cater to the people of Bacolod City and Negros Island,” he emphasized.
HB 3808, Gasataya said the PRC is tasked to implement and enforce policies on the licensing of various occupations and professions under its jurisdiction.
“Considering the vital function of the PRC and the welfare of all professional licensing applicants and holders, it is more than imperative to establish an office of the Commission in Bacolod City,” Gasataya cited.
He said this will expedite the processing of licensing applications for the people and also lessen the burden of expense and extra work for the applicants and employees of the PRC regional office./PN
