ROXAS City – A mother and her 12-year-old daughter died in a fire in Barangay Libas.
Fifty-three-year-old Josepha Progio and daughter Charlotte Solis were found inside a comfort room after a fire totally gutted their house around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
“The mother was still embracing her daughter when their bodies were found inside the comfort room,” said Bureau of Fire Protection senior arson investigator Marlon Garbo.
Garbo said the family had a smoked fish business and the blaze started in their kitchen.
“Ginhagad ko ang akon asawa kag apat ka mga kabataan nga mag gwa na sa balay, apang posible hinadlukan siya amo nga ginsiraduhan niya ang amon kuarto upod sang mga bata,” said Melvin Solis, Josepha’s live-in partner.
“We found out that the house has no exit door. It has only one entrance also serving as exit door,” Garbo said.
Josepha’s three other children – Joy Faith Solis, 15; Naomi Grace Solis, 13; and Samuel Solis, 8 – were brought to the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for medical treatment./PN
