BACOLOD City – The House of Representatives passed in third and final reading a bill that seeks to increase the bed capacity of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) from 400 to 1,000.
The House unanimously approved House Bill 7962 on Tuesday, according to Bacolod lone district representative Greg Gasataya.
The proposed measure, which will now be forwarded to the Senate, also seeks to allocate additional funds for the regional government hospital.
If passed into law, the measure will be a “very big help for Bacolodnons, especially the poorest of the poor,” according to Gasataya, the principal author of the bill.
The CLMMRH has 10 accredited departments – general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, anesthesiology, otolaryngology and neck surgery, orthopedics and traumatology, ophthalmology, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging and radiologic sciences.
“It serves as the sole premiere tertiary government hospital that offers specialized medical care in Bacolod City, the entire province of Negros Occidental and neighboring provinces within the Western Visayas region,” Gasataya said./PN
