House raid nets firearm, bullets

BACOLOD City – Police arrested a man in a house raid in Barangay Tinongan, Isabela, Negros Occidental.

Armed with a search warrant, officers of the municipal police station raided the house of 35-year-old Raul Gonzaga around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, a police report showed. 

A 45-caliber pistol with two magazines and 10 live bullets were confiscated from the house, the report added. 

Police officers served the warrant issued by Judge Cyclamen Jison-Fernandez of the Regional Trial Court in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental dated Oct. 10, 2019.

Gonzaga failed to show pertinent papers proving his legal ownership of the weapon, police said.

The suspect was detained in the lockup facility of the Isabela police station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
