Houston snags Jeff Green, 4 other free agents

HOUSTON Rockets is decisive in turning their campaign around in the upcoming NBA Season under new head coach Ime Udoka as it signed up five free agents, including veteran forward Jeff Green.

Green, who was part of the Denver Nuggets team that captured the 2022-2023 NBA Season crown, has agreed to join the youth-laden Rockets on a one-year, $6 million contract.

Also signed up by the Rockets were Fred VanVleet (3-year, $130 million), Dillon Brooks (4-year, $80 million), Jock Landale (4-year, $32 million) and Trevor Hudgins (2-way contract), while also acquiring Patty Mills via trade from Brooklyn Nets.

The Rockets, meanwhile, parted ways with Usman Garuba and TyTy Washington, who were traded to Atlanta Hawks, and KJ Martin, who was shipped to Los Angeles Clippers for two second round picks.

Los Angeles Lakers also made their offseason work by renewing the contracts of Austin Reaves (four-year, $56 million), Rui Hachimura (three-year, $51 million) and DAngelo Russell (two-year, $37 million).

The Lakers also got Gabe Vincent (three-year, $37 million) Taurean Prince (one-year, $4.5 million) as well as center Jaxson Hayes and guard Cam Reddish on two-year minimum contracts.

Phoenix Suns also strengthened its bench by renewing Damion Lee and Josh Okogie and signing up Yuta Watanabe, Devin Eubanks, Chimezie Metu and Keita Bates-Diop.

Miami Heat retained center Kevin Love, acquired former Nuggets center Thomas Bryant and Josh Richardson and inking Jamaree Bouyea and Dru Smith on two-way contracts.

Cleveland Cavaliers, on the other hand, signed Max Strus, George Niang and Ty Jerome, renewed the contract of Caria LeVert and acquiring Damian Jones via trade from Utah Jazz.

Reigning champions Nuggets managed to retain veterans Reggie Jackson and DeAndre Jordan after losing Green, Bruce Brown to Indiana Pacers and Jack White to Oklahoma City Thunder.

Milwaukee Bucks managed to bring back Brook Lopez, Khris Middleton and Jae Crowder, while Dallas Mavericks also got back Kyrie Irving and Dwight Powell and picked up Seth Curry and Dante Exum from free agency.

The Pacers inked Tyrese Haliburton to five-year extension and acquired Obi Toppin via trade, while Chicago Bulls retained Coby White and also signed up Jevon Carter from free agency.

Toronto Raptors retained Jakob Poeltl for four years, while inking Jalen McDaniels and Dennis Schroder for two years, Sacramento Kings brought back Trey Lyles and Alex Len and secured Sasha Vezenkov for three years.

Also renewing their contracts are Draymond Green of Golden State Warriors, Jerami Grant of Portland Trail Blazers, Russell Westbrook of the Clippers, LaMelo Ball of Charlotte Hornets, Desmond Bane of Memphis Grizzlies, Cam Johnson of Brooklyn Nets, Mo Wagner of Orlando Magic, Kyle Kuzma of Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs’  Sandro Mamukelashvili and Tre Jones.

Moving on to new teams are Oshae Brissett of Boston Celtics, Patrick Beverley of Philadelphia 76ers, Joe Ingles of the Magic, Dennis Smith Jr. of the Nets, Derrick Rose of the Grizzlies, Donte DiVincenzo of New York Knicks, Vasilije Micic of the the Thunder, Shake Milton and Troy Brown of Minnesota Timberwolves.

Also moving to new teams via trades are Joe Harris and Monte Morris to Detroit Pistons, Cedi Osman and Lamar Stevens to the Spurs and Victor Olapido to the Thunder./PN
