How do you express care in different local dialects?

Visayas and Mindanao are clustered into 9 different regions making it one of the most diverse parts of the country, with approximately over 30 local dialects and 16 major islands.

With the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, expressing one’s care and affection is priceless. With the changing quarantine classifications concerning us more than ever, expressing our deep affection to our family, friends and relatives from other islands or regions with simple pangangamusta or saying ingat may help alleviate the anxiety we collectively experience. Here’s a quick guide in expressing care in different local dialects around the region.

Expressing care can be done in different ways. Here is a rundown of commonly used terms in different local dialects. The following words mean one thing, ‘take care’or ‘ingat’. These are common expressions used by the locals to wish someone well and care.

Our dialects may differ from one island to another, but expressing our care to our loved ones when they have fever and headache is constant. Throughout the years, Paracetamol (Biogesic) has always been there to care for every Filipino – young, old, even pregnant or breastfeeding women, and people with comorbidities. It is even the brand that’s most prescribed by doctors (among oral pain and fever medicines). Sharing Biogesic with those special to us is another way of showing our love to them wherever we may be in the region.

So show your care by sending your loved ones a Biogesic today!

How about you, how do you express care in your local dialect?

If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
