How does Cansino express love to UST?

How does cager Crispin John Cansino express love to his former team University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers?

The new University of the Philippines (UP) recruit Cansino said in previous interviews he’s grateful to his former team for making his dream to play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) come true and to the fans who remained by the Tigers’ side win or lose.

But is really love that he expresses to the school? By blasting former schoolmates in callous interviews and social media activities?

The Thomasians are not saying that Cansino should keep quiet about the controversial “Sorsogon Bubble.” However, he should really know when to speak and not, especially that authorities are already investigating the matter.

They are also not taking away his right to express his feelings about his beef with UST men’s basketball team head coach Aldin Ayo, but repeating it again and again on several channels or podcasts is like pushing the school to the wall further.

Cansino continues to inflict damage to the university – his second home for several years – as days pass by.

He involved Tigers’ Soulemane Chabi Yo, Brent Paraiso, Ira Bataller, Rhenz Abando, Bismarck Lina and Paul Manalang in his latest boo boo and released a screenshot of a group chat with his former teammates complaining about their Sorsogon situation.

Does Cansino ever consider what possible consequences other players in the group chat may face? Does he think that the six can just enter the next UST practice like nothing happened? Abando and Lina could always be tapped by other schools in case worse happens. What about the others?

Take note that Chabi Yo is in his final year while Paraiso and Bataller only have a couple of years left in their UAAP careers. Will some schools gamble to give them scholarships for one or two playing years left?

Aside from the six, Cansino’s tweet also justified possible sanctions that UAAP can hand to UST—one or two or how many years of suspension. Those years will deny other UST student-athletes to showcase their wares in the league.

There is always a proper place where Cansino can air his side. If he really wants to punish Ayo for setting up the bubble and maltreating the players, he could have submitted what he knows to the UAAP Board or to the Inter-Agency Task Force rather than ranting on social media.

He is like a demon unleashed from detention to attack his former home.

Cansino chose vindictiveness instead of a graceful exit with Thomasians applauding him. Thomasians, however, are still grateful to Cansino for his service and glad that he found a home in UP./PN
