KAPAMILYA actress Jodi Sta. Maria shared how she prepared for her titular role in the upcoming action drama series “Lavender Fields.”
In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe, Sta. Maria revealed how her role as Lavender Fields could revolve around distrust.
“When the project was pitched to me, ‘di ko rin naman in-expect na Lavender Fields siya …May istorya, may ibig sabihin, ano ba ang lavender as a plant?” the actress said.
She added: “Alam natin na ‘yung oil na nakukuha natin sa kanila, pang-relax pero ang isang meaning din ng lavender is distrust, hindi ka pinagkakatiwalaan,” she added.
While nervous, Sta. Maria was game to take on a challenge and worked out thrice a weeks for her role.
“This is the first action drama role that I’m going to do… Isang malaking bagay na laging nagpapa-oo sa ‘kin sa isang proyekto is ‘yung fact na kapag kinabahan ako, kapag na-feel ko na, ‘shucks parang ‘di ko siya kayang gawin,’ all the more na gugustuhin ko siyang gawin,” she said.
Sta. Maria shared how she is also excited with the pool of actors joining the Dreamscape Entertainment project.
“These are excellent actors, ‘yun pa ‘yung lalong mas nagpapa-excite na makasama and hindi lang sa craft nila eh, mabubuting tao ‘tong mga makakasama ko. Pressure, yes. Kasi bago, hindi ito ang comfort zone ko, ang gagaling ng mga artistang makakasama ko,” the actress said.
“Pressure, yes because lagi kong iniisip, mapu-pull off ko ba ‘to. ‘Pag lahat na ng pressures na mga ‘yan naiisip ko or dumarating, nakakalma ako roon sa fact na alam ko at this day in my life, tumatanggap ako ng proyekto, alam ko buong puso I’m fully committed to the project,” she added.
Now that her new project has been revealed, Sta. Maria admitted that she also thinks of her legacy as an artist.
“Minsan hindi na nga tungkol sa pera, minsan hindi na tungkol sa may gusto ka pang patunayan, pero ang gusto nating maiwan ‘yung magandang legacy, magandang body of work na kapag napanood na tayo ng mga susunod na salinlahi, makikita nila, mai-inspire sila na gawin o sumunod sa mga yapak natin, na pag-igihan, pagbutihan, na mahalin ang kanilang mga trabaho,” she said.
Sta. Maria last worked with Joshua Garcia, Richard Yap and Gabbi Garcia in the GMA and ABS-CBN project “Unbreak My Heart” in 2023. (ABS-CBN News)
