A COACH from a high school team (HS 1) cried foul on the latest dirty tactic of their rival school (HS 2) when the latter allegedly paid one of the formerâs star players to not show up for HS 1 this year.
A source told Buzzer Beater that the HS 1 head coach was visibly upset after learning that HS 2 offered his star player a huge sum of money to not show up to their basketball tournaments.
SOTOMIL AND MAROONS
Ilongga star setter Marianne Sotomil got a dose of âMaroon loveâ on Friday evening after her school Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts played a tune-up game with University of the Philippines Lady Maroons.
Sotomil, who is set to move to the Lady Maroons camp later this year, got a warm welcome from her future teammates until their exhibition match started where Lady Maroons dominated Thunderbolts 25-19, 25-14.
âI got mixed emotions entering here in UP,â Sotomil said. âSiyempre may kaba din kasi first time kong makatapak dito but, at the same time, excited because of the warm welcome ng mga (UP players).â
Sotomil showed her efficiency in front of her future teammates with her setting ability for Thunderbolts players, making Lady Maroons more excited for their upcoming rookie.
âThis is her first game in front of her future teammates and I can say she is impressive,â said Tay Tung vice president for sports Jose Montalbo. âI got a word from UP that they are very excited to have her after her stint with us.â
Sotomil and Thunderbolts are currently in Manila as Western Visayasâ representative in the Akari National High School Volleyball Championships being held at the Adamson University Gym./PN
