HUA SIONG College of Iloilo, representing ILOPRISAA, reclaimed the secondary boys’ basketball title in the 2017 Iloilo Schools Sports Council (ISSC) Meet yesterday at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
Led by Mark Nonoy, Hua Siong came up with a huge performance in the second half to waylay CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights, representing the 3rd Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA 3), 74-69 in the gold medal game.
Their victory earned for the Vincent Conlu-mentored Hua Siong players the slot to represent Iloilo City in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet basketball in February next year.
It was CenterPhil’s fourth consecutive runner-up finish after their defeats to Hua Siong, St. Roberts Panda Rockets and Santa Clarita International School Primes in the last three years.
In softball, CDSA 1 captured the secondary division title by defeating CDSA 4. Meanwhile, CDSA 4 ruled the elementary division after dominating CDSA 5.
The Iloilo City Schools Sports Council won the elementary girls’ volleyball title by beating ILOPRISAA. CDSA 3 settled for third place.
CDSA 4 bagged the secondary division futsal championship by defeating ILOPRISAA while CDSA 3 salvaged a second runner-up finish./PN
