ILOILO City – Hua Siong Red Phoenix and Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus emerged as champions in the elementary volleyball event of the 2019 ILOPRISAA Meet on Saturday at the University of San Agustin Covered Court here.
Red Phoenix clinched the elementary boys volleyball crown for defeating the Central Philippine University Golden Lions in straight sets, 26-24, 25-19, in the gold medal match.
Alejandro Huele, John Michael Cabanero, Paolo Sotomil, Gerard Piosca, and Gerard Tseng were efficient from start to finish for the Red Phoenix.
Also part of the Red Phoenix team were Gabrielle Huele, Kevin Natividad, Aden So, Alex Balomadres, and Ivan Benedicto.
Serving as head coach was Stephen “Tipoy” Patrona.
The Red Phoenix reached the championship round after defeating the Solomon School in three sets in the semifinals.
Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus, meanwhile, bagged the championship in the elementary girls category after defeating the Central Philippine University Golden Lions in the finals./PN
