ILOILO City – Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix emerged as champions in the Asialink 3×3 basketball league U-15 held recently at the Zarraga Covered Gymnasium in Zarraga, Iloilo.
Led by Khen Clarence Chin, Rez Arrhon Panes, Alquin Majesterio, and Gewen Mar Jacosalem, the Red Phoenix clinched the championship with a 15-12 victory over OJNA Rebels.
It was a fitting championship for the Chin, Panes, Majesterio, and Jacosalem quintet. They finished the one-day tournament undefeated by winning all of their 12 matches.
In the semifinal round, the Red Phoenix prevailed over the Team Wolves, 9-5, while the OJNA Rebels survived the Sta. Clarita International School Primes, 9-8.
Tournament organizer Philip Doce Punzalan said 14 teams competed in the 3×3 basketball with four teams moving to the semifinals round.
The 3×3 tournament was brought by Asialink Finance Corp. and Suarez Ballclub, in cooperation with Sangguniang Kabataan federation president Imarie Pinuela and Zaragga mayor John Tarrosa./PN
