HUA SIONG College of Iloilo, Santa Clarita International School, University of San Agustin, and St. Robert’s International Academy improved to 2-0 after separate wins in the 2018 Iloilo PRISAA secondary boys basketball.
Hua Siong handed Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus its first defeat in the tournament with a 99-51 domination over at the Western Institute of Technology gym in Iloilo City on Sunday.
Jann Paolo Villariza led the way with 16 points while Ramon Pico added 13 markers for Hua Siong – the defending champion – to hold its opponent to as low as 13 points in total midway in the third period.
The game was so lopsided that Hua Siong head coach Vincent Conlu managed to give star guard Reynold Tupas a rest after sparingly using him in the opening quarter.
Santa Clarita also had a dominant showing as it defeated Ateneo de Iloilo 73-53. Kim Rey Servano and Franc Steven Tono had 21 points each to lead the way for the Primes.
St. Robert’s, meanwhile, cruised to its second straight win is as many games after a 76-63 decision on John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University. Wilfredo Dinate had 16 points, while Kent John Parrenas had 15 markers for the Panda Rockets.
San Agustin, for its part, opened the tournament with 2-0 headway after a 74-38 rout of Santa Isabel College of Iloilo. Jhon Lenard Magbanua had 12 points while John Michael Vicencio added 9 for San Agustin./PN
