ILOILO City – A 24-year-old woman from Balasan, Iloilo was in a critical condition after her husband stabbed her, police said.
Jenelyn Villa was hit on the chest and both arms. She was being treated at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district as of this writing.
Villa, a native of Barangay Abong, Carles town, is living with 26-year-old husband John in Barangay Camambugan, Balasan.
John had a nervous breakdown and attacked Villa at around 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 27, according to Chief Inspector Kenneth Paniza, Balasan police chief.
Villa was carrying their 2-year-old child at the time of the stabbing, Paniza said.
“Wala man sang pagbaisay. Basta gulpi niya lang ginbunu asawa niya,” said the police officer.
John stabbed himself on the chest thereafter so he was taken to the same hospital as well, police said.
This was not the first time John had a nervous breakdown – last year, he also chased a relative with a knife, this was learned.
