ILOILO City – This city has witnessed substantial seizures of shabu, valued in millions of pesos.
While Mayor Jerry Treñas acknowledged these recoveries as positive achievements by the police, he emphasized the severity of the drug problem.
He described the situation as still “alarming” and even pointed out that Iloilo province is also dealing with a similar problem.
He cited a recent operation in Janiuay, Iloilo where shabu worth P40.8 million was seized, indicating widespread drug trafficking.
Treñas urged the Iloilo City Police Office to step up efforts to curb the drug menace, especially in the lead-up to the Dinagyang Festival.
He pointed out a report describing the city as a major drop-off point in the illegal drug trade, serving as a transit hub for shipments from Luzon and other regions./PN
