ILOILO City – Human skeletal remains were found in a mountainous area of Barangay Lipata in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
The find consisted of a skull and what were believed to be either thigh or leg bones (femur, tibia or fibula) or arm bones (humerus, radius or unla).
Bird hunters discovered them at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Police Captain Joven Arevalo, Barotac Viejo police chief.
Clothes (a jersey shirt printed with number 361 and a pair of shorts) believed to be those of a male were also found nearby, said Arevalo.
“This person may have died of an illness or was a victim of salvaging,” said Arevalo.
He also said there had been no report or record of a missing resident of Barotac Viejo thus this person may like be a resident of some other place.
“We are coordinating to neighboring towns. Do they have missing persons? They can contact us,” said Arevalo./PN
