ILOILO City – Hundreds of cycling enthusiasts from all over the province of Iloilo are expected to join “Sikad Kontra Droga” in the municipality of Tubungan tomorrow.
This ride-for-a cause has the theme, “Ride for a Drug-Free Community.”
Conceptualized by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) under Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles, regional police director, it aims to rally public support to the campaign against drug trafficking.
Tubungan is the second Iloilo town to hold the activity following Dumangas.
“We want all sectors and bikers to join,” said Chief Inspector Aron Palomo, spokesperson of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
The 40-kilometer activity will start at 5 a.m. from the town proper of Tubungan, then the peloton would pass through the towns of Igbaras and Guimbal.
Registration is free, said Palomo.
The first 50 bikers to register will receive free shirts.
Palomo urged more towns to hold their own “Sikad Kontra Droga.”
Gentiles, his PRO-6 staff, IPPO officials and local government officials of Tubungan will lead the activity./PN
