Hunger remains for Ilonggo taekwondo jin Cachero

MANILA – Despite bagging golds in international competitions, the hunger and determination remains for Ilonggo taekwondo jin Joshua Caingitan Cachero.

In an interview over Sports Lang podcast, the Leon, Iloilo-native Cachero said amid his victories, he still keeps the same determination as there are still goals for him to achieve.

“In taekwondo, there are ups and downs, but I always strive to reach my goal,” said Cachero, who captured gold during the 2018 Palarong Pambansa and 2019 Tirak Taekwondo Championships in Thailand.

The University of San Agustin standout admitted that when he was still young, he only learned taekwondo as a form of hobby and self-defense but later enjoyed it.

“My parents first encouraged me to learn taekwondo. It was supposedly for self-defense but then I enjoyed it. I fell in love with taekwondo,” Cachero said.

“Then they bought me the equipment and uniform. It has been nine years now and I am still enjoying it,” he added. “In taekwondo, you can learn a lot, make friends and even be treated by your teammate as a family.”

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Cachero makes sure that he remains in tip-top shape with the help of his Ilonggo coaches.

“I just continue to engage in sports during this pandemic to maintain a healthy mind and body,” said Cachero./PN
