ROXAS City – A center for modern farming has been launched here — the Indoor Hydroponics Farming Research Center at Doña Emeliana Alba Memorial School (DEAMS) in Barangay Pinaypayan Lanot.
Hydroponic farming is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions in water, without soil.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said indoor hydroponic farming is an alternative way of planting which can be adopted by households to ensuring food sustainability.
“Magluwas sa masustansya nga pagkaon sa lamesa, mahimu ini makahatag sang dugang nga kita kag makabulig sa pagsiguro sang bastante nga supply sang pagkaon sa syudad,” said Dadivas.
The Indoor Hydroponics Farming Research Center is a project of the Junior Chamber International spearheaded by United Nations Sustainable Development Council national deputy chairperson Ma. Katrina Carmina Anisco and JCI-Roxas Makawiwili president Joan Adonay.
This is in partnership with the Department of Education-Roxas City Division led by Dr. Feliciano Buenafe; School Governance and Operations Division chief Dr. Nerissa Resente, DEAMS Head Teacher Grace Bueno and Balijuagan Elementary School Principal Mann Lee – Project Proponent./PN
