Hygiene kits seen to help curb spread of coronavirus

BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – The municipal government received 45 sets of hygiene kits from the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Guimaras chapter on June 24.

Each hygiene kit contained soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, tissue, and towel.

Mayor Eugenio Gallo Reyes said the kits would be distributed to barangays on surgical lockdown due to rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). He thanked PRC-Guimaras chapter officer-in-charge Jonna Lazarte.

Reyes said kits should motivate people to wash their hands properly as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“Proper hand-washing is the first line of defense against COVID-19. Along with other important behaviors such as physical distancing, thorough washing of the hands often and at key moments is essential to controlling the pandemic,” he stressed.

As of June 24, Buenavista had 114 active COVID-19 cases – the highest in Guimaras.

The towns of Jordan had 30; San Lorenzo, 10; Nueva Valencia, eight; and Sibunag, eight./PN
