BACOLOD City – The city government has recognized Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for Visayas chief implementer Mel Feliciano and wife Mia as the metro’s first “Adopted Couple.”

Mayor Evelio Leonardia issued Executive Order (EO) No. 69 for the couple’s conferment held at the New Government Center on Oct. 31.

“As crisis begets heroes, we have found ours in the couple,” Leonardia said.

A retired Army Major General, Feliciano was among the officials deployed by the national government to help the city’s COVID-19 response.

He was accompanied by his wife, a nurse with extensive clinical background and patient care experience in the Philippines and the United States.

The couple was initially assigned to Bacolod City from Sept. 1 to 30.

However, they decided extend their stay to continue guiding and coaching members of the city Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Task Force until the end of the October.

“For two months of working with the people of Bacolod in the formulation of effective actions and interventions to curb the spread of COVID-19, the couple generously shared their expertise and invaluable wisdom and have exemplified the true spirit of altruism, commitment and dedication for the welfare of Bacoleños,” said Leonardia.

Feliciano, for his part, thanked the Bacolodnons and the members of the EOC for their support and dedication in helping the battle against COVID-19./PN
