ICAODTC trailblazer in Panay province transport modernization

THE Iloilo City Alliance of Operators and Drivers Transport Cooperative (ICAODTC) held a grand blessing, inauguration and launching of PUV Modernized Units set to serve Iloilo City commuters on May 8 – in partnership with Hino-Panay, the exclusive dealer of Hino Motors Philippines in Panay – at Diversion Road, Brgy. Sambag, Jaro, Iloilo City.

The ICAODTC Board of Directors take their oath of office led by Presidential Consultant for Western Visayas Ms. Jane Javellana.

The festive launching was graced by Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairman Atty. Martin Delgra III, LTFRB Region 6 Director Mr. Richard Osmena, Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) Executive Director II Mr. Eugene Pabualan, Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Chief for Registration Ms. Monato Honeya Alawit, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Director Mr. Francisco Milla Jr., Former Special Assistant to the President Mr. Christopher Lawrence Go was represented by Presidential Consultant for Western Visayas Ms. Jane Javellana, Hino Motors Philippines Chairman Mr. Vicente Mills, Hino-Panay Chairman Ms. Filamie Aguilon.

They were warmly welcomed by Iloilo City Alliance Operators and Drivers Transport Cooperative (ICAODTC) Board of Directors, Officers and Members.

Modernized Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) are expected to be deployed in this city “as soon as possible,” said Delgra III during the PUV Modernized Units launching. He instantly granted the approval of the new seven units as initial units for operation in certain routes in Iloilo City.

  • Iloilo Terminal and General Services Inc. (ITGSI) terminal in Barangay Ungka, Jaro district going to the City Proper via Jaro CPU and vice versa;
  • Jaro CPU Derecho route (from Barangay Sambag, Jaro to the City Proper and vice versa);
  • ITGSI terminal in Barangay Ungka, Jaro to the City Proper via Diversion Road and vice versa; and
  • Villa Baybay to City Proper and vice versa.

DENR Regional Director Mr. Francisco Milla Jr. said, “PUV Modernized Unit will not only ensure safety and convenience but also help lessen air pollution in Iloilo City. This Modernized Units uses Euro 4 standard engines which ensures lesser pollution from the vehicles”.

“Being a part of this progress is an honor to Hino-Panay. We are grateful for the officers of ICAODTC for trusting the best – HINO” said Hino-Panay Chairman Ms. Filamie Aguillon.

The Office of Congressman Jerry Trenas, the City Mayor’s Office of Joe Espinosa III along with other government agencies supports the implementation of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.

The launching ended with an open forum for the members of ICAODTC which was participated by Delgra,  LTFRB Region 6 Director Mr. Richard Osmena, OTC Executive Director II Mr. Eugene Pabualan, Hino Motors Philippines Chairman Mr. Vicente Mills./PN
