ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has created a special team to run after robbery groups and petty street criminals.

The team is made up of personnel from the intelligence and operation section of the city police.

This is a “preventive measure”, said Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, city police director.

“We need to be vigilant and aware” even if the city is relatively peaceful, he stressed.

On Saturday, a house was robbed in Barangay Infante, Molo district.

According to Rodolfo Arivas, 57, his two watches and an iPod were stolen around 3:30 a.m.

Policemen were alerted and two suspects were caught – Jafferson Monserat, 22, and Mark David Mahusay, 20, both of Barangay North Baluarte, Molo.

The watches and iPod were recovered from the suspects who were detained at the Molo police station.

“The Molo robbery was isolated but we don’t want to be complacent,” said Biñas.

Two sachets of shabu were also recovered from the suspects, according to the Molo police.

Biñas ordered his police chiefs to post cops in pawnshops, banks, establishments dealing with money and in schools.

“We need to utilize all our available personnel,” he stressed./PN
