ILOILO City — Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), has warned the public following incidents where his name was used in scam attempts.

Several Iloilo City councilors reported receiving calls from individuals claiming to be Colonel Coronica. These impostors sought to engage the councilors in securing a rice supplier for a non-existent transaction.

The scam was exposed when a suspicious councilor verified the caller’s identity. The caller quickly ended the conversation, stating the transaction had been canceled.

This pattern mirrors a similar scheme reported last year involving the misuse of Colonel Coronica’s name in a comparable context.

Coronica has reiterated that he is not involved in any commercial dealings and urges the public to verify any business-related communications claiming to be from his office./PN
