ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is ramping up security efforts ahead of the 52nd Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta Festival, set to run from February 23 to March 2.

The festival, which celebrates the country’s oldest traditional sailboat race, is expected to attract thousands of visitors.

ICPO director Police Colonel Kim Legada assured the public that comprehensive security measures are in place to ensure a safe and incident-free event.

“We are implementing a multi-layered security plan, including increased police visibility, strict crowd management, and close coordination with partner agencies. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for everyone attending the festival,” Legada said.

Key security measures include the establishment of police assistance desks, the deployment of quick response teams, and enhanced traffic control around high-traffic areas, particularly near the Iloilo Strait and festival venues.

Emergency response teams will be on standby to handle any emergencies swiftly.

This year’s festival theme, “Sailing Blue Waters on This Green Earth,” highlights Iloilo’s rich maritime heritage and its commitment to environmental conservation.

Authorities are urging the public to cooperate with security measures and remain vigilant throughout the festivities.

ICPO reassures attendees that necessary precautions are in place and encourages everyone to report any suspicious activities to authorities to maintain safety and order during the highly anticipated event./PN
