ILOILO City – Halfway through the year, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) seized P71.1 million worth of shabu and arrested 282 drug suspects.
Police stations across the city recovered 2,847 grams of shabu, according to ICPO director Colonel Joeresty Coronica.
Of the 282 arrested drug suspects, 55 were high-value, 191 were street-level, 25 were newly identified, and 12 were served with arrest warrants.
In the campaign against loose firearms, 108 police operations led to the arrest of 19 persons and the surrender of 91 firearms.
The ICPO also recovered 11 explosives; nine were surrendered and two were recovered.
On the other hand, 257 persons were arrested for illegal gambling, and P93,000 in bet money was confiscated in 65 operations.
“Gin-hatagan ta gid focus ang drugs sa city as per directive of Mayor Jerry Treñas and from the regional command. Madasig naton sila madakop kay damo nagahatag information sa aton. We are thankful for that,” said Coronica.
Just recently, the ICPO was adjudged as “Outstanding City Police Office” for 2023 in Region 6 during the 28th Police Community Relations Month celebration, beating the Bacolod City Police Office./PN
