ILOILO City – Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director Police Colonel Leo Batiles ordered all his police chiefs to run after loose guns.
His order was triggered by a shooting on Saturday at Time Square’s parking area in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao.
The shooting left a man wounded – 31-year-old Frsncis Arañon of Mandurriao – on his right leg.
Arañon was taken to the Iloilo Doctor’s hospital.
A suspect had been named but yet to be arrested as of this writing. Police called him “RK”
According to ICPO spokesperson, Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines, the shooting happened at 10:40 p.m. The victim was with his friends walking in parking area.
The suspect was onboard a car and fired shots.
“Our director ordered us to strengthen our operations against deadly weapons and firearms. Mang-frisking kami sa nagalagaw sa gab-i para indi ba masulit ang natabo sa parking area,” Sangrines said.
Sangrines is warning the public not to bring weapons and guns when roaming the city at night./PN
